Going freelance
After years of flirting with the idea, I've recently decided to take the big, scary step of going freelance. So, at the end of October of this year I’ll be leaving TPXimpact and beginning a new journey into the world of freelance product and service design.
In my two decades in the design industry I've enjoyed a mixture of in-house, agency, and consulting roles, working for some of the world’s leading organisations and collaborating with some of the most talented people in their fields. However, I've felt for some time that I’m ready for something new; not just a new role, but a new challenge.
So I’m changing who I work for and changing how I work; broadening my experience and embracing the possibility of interesting and unique projects that challenge me in new ways. I look forward to collaborating with other designers, developers and other professionals, writing my own story for a while, and designing a business around my own ideas, principles and approach. Truly, I feel reinvigorated and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead (and just the right amount of anxious).
Working for myself promises the chance to grow and learn once more, and while I'm still figuring out the details, I'll probably start with what I know: product design, service design, and design leadership. That said, I'm mindful of designing out serendipity and remaining open to unexpected opportunities and partnerships. Look out for future posts as I figure out what shape my business will take.
I’m available for work from February 2025, if you’d like to work together I’d love to hear from you, and if you’re not sure, take a look at my portfolio.
